The Board of Mission and Ministry is responsible for the special aress of Social Ministry and Local and World Mission.

The Board assists the congregation in organizing an effective ministry to the community. Ongoing ministry projects include EAstern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, Pregnanacy Care Center and The Corner Table.

Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry (ECCM): This organization brings together the resources of the Christian community to serve the poeple in need of crisisn assistance, support and education. Many area churches are members. Each year, the first week in May, our congregation is responsible for providing volunteers to work at ECCCM. Church members are also urged to volunteer at ECCCM anythime they can helping bag food, sort clothes or whatever needs doing. A food tree is kept in the transept area of the church year round where members can place donated items. Frequent bulleting inserts remind members of the constant need for food. This food is transported to ECCCM on a regular basis by a board member.

Pregnancy Care Center (PCC): is an organziation that exists to uphold the sanctity of human life by demonstrating the love of Christ to women facing crisis pregnancies through the provision of spiritual, physical and emotional support, and by proclaiming the Gospel to the community-at-large by promoting a Biblical view of sex and marriage through education.

Occasionally we help them with their quarterly newsletter mailing or some other project with which they need assistance. A small crib is kept in the transept area where membes can place donaated items. A board member transports these items to PCC on a regular basis.

The Corner Table: is a Soup Kitchen outreach ministry provided by the people of the community for the hungry in the community. Their primary prupose is to provide nutritious meals in a comfortable environment for any men, women or children in need. Food left over from various church events is donaated to the corner Table. Church Members also make food donations.

One week each year is designated at Mission Week.  During this week, a different community project is scheduled for each day. Normally included in mission week is ECCCM to work sorting clothes or bagging food; PCC to sort baby clothtes, plant flowers, work on Bottle-It campaign or anything else that may need to be done; Corner Table by providing lunch or serving meals; Habitat For Humanity by providing a snack or lunch on-site for the local Habitat project; Lutheran Home by volunteering to sing one evening for the residents.

The Board provides information and encouragement to the congregation concerning the church's worldwide social ministry programs such as Lutheran World Relief and Wheatridge and also the Synodical Institutional Services such as Bethesda, Armed Service Commission and Lutheran Braille Ministry.

A 5th Sunday Offering is collecte dor Various Mission & Ministry projects. Sometimes this money is designaated for the general fund which is used to help local people in need with their utility bills, rent or provide food vouchers. Other times this money is designated for on of our local or world missions mentioned previously, or some special project or need that arises such as an earthquake, tsunami, hurricane, etc.
