What's In Store For The Kids Of Concordia

All the same things that your child can expect from a traditional school are to be found at Concordia. We cover all the basics - from science and math to language and arts. Each subject is geared to cover the same levels of content that you would find at each respective traditional school grade level. The difference is the Christian atmosphere in which they are taught and the addition of areas of interest that follow the teachings of the Lord. And, in keeping with the neighborhood theme, we welcome the participation of parents as volunteers. Parents are urged to assist classroom teachers in carrying out assigned routines. This maintains the values of family and allows the teachers the freedom to work in a more focused manner with individual students and groups.

Chapel Services
One morning each week Concordia students and staff assemble in the church sanctuary for a special Children's Chapel Service. The "semonettes" provided by our pastor, teachers or visiting pastors), hymns and liturgy selected for these services are designed to meet the needs and desires of the children. Often, they enhance areas of study during that week and provide examples of that study given through the word of the Lord.

Music
All students at Concordia are taught the fundamentals of music in classes that serve as our "Day School Choirs." Children are instructed in how to read music, learn inspirational songs and the use of typical band instruments. A wide range of music styles are presented including classical, folk, multi-cultural and much more; however, we stress a curriculum of sacred songs that allow the children to praise and worship our Lord through music. Many of these learned performances are shared with the congregation at Concordia Lutheran Church's worship services.

Athletics
Concordia is a member of the Central Carolina Independent School Athletic Association. CCISAA Conference sports include soccer and basketball. All fifth through eight graders are encouraged to participate. The conference also sponsors a track meet for first through eighth grade students. Other types of sporting activities are offered and integrated into the entire educational experience.

Supervised Child Care
Concordia offers supervised before and after school care each day school is in session. This is available for Concordia students only. All day School Care is provided on school holidays, vacations and bad weather days when there is a sufficient number of students to participate.

Pre-Kindergarten/Child Care Program
Because we believe that the growth and development of children can be fostered best in a Christian environment, Concordia offers a Pre_Kindergarten Program as an additional service to the community. This program is offered to children who will be attending the Concordia Kindergarten Program the following fall, and those who will be having their fourth birthday on or before October 16.

Summer Programs
Concordia's Summer Day Camp is offered to children of the community. This program offers stimulating educational experiences on a regular schedule during the summer months.
