Each Halloween, Sight Night volunteers across the country collect used eyeglasses and sunglasses to be recycled and delivered to people in developing countries who cannot afford glasses. This program, called “Give the Gift of Sight”, has helped nearly 3 million people see more clearly. Local Catawba County scout, Blake Badders, along with the Hickory Lions Club and Lenscrafters, will be creating a Sight Night for his Eagle Scout project. Look through your house and “scare up” your old eyeglasses—they can make a world of difference to someone in need. Glasses can be left in the white deposit box just inside the school’s entrance. The box will be there until the first week of November. |
